meet the staff

Me - Bill Marts. Way more years fly fishing and in the fly fishing business that I care to admit (55 yrs). I do promote a few other fly fishing shops and guides, but my Retail Page (Complete Angler) lists products for sale that I have 100% faith and trust in. I have used most of it myself or are used by my friends. My Granddaughter (Alex) did most of the work on this website. My wife Judy helps me keep my sanity somewhat grounded and keeps my inner child alive and well. I get help from my son Eric and his partner Eve with smart phone and computer stuff. My friend Devon Richardson has always been there to help me.

About Bill:

I have been active in the sport and business of fly fishing for most of my life. This includes Fly Shop owner (Blue Dun in Wenatchee and Spokane, WA). I have been instructing fly fishing activities for 45 years (casting, fly tying, rod building, and fishing). I have been fortunate enough to find some fly fishing editors to print my stories and photos. I was involved with Fly Fishing Video Magazine for many years in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. I thank them for introducing me to many fly fishing challenges. I ran the Sage Fly Fishing School for three years and I’ve guided in Montana, Washington, and Idaho. But enough about me…

My real target in starting another new business is to promote shallow water fly fishing. There are fish beyond trout. I still like fly fishing for trout, steelhead, and saltwater; shallow and deep. I have discovered in my years of fly fishing is that I enjoy learning about other fly fishing styles, and I want to promote and teach that. Like Carp fly fishing/hunting. It is the closest thing we have to flats fishing here in the NW. It is sight casting for an extremely strong, smart, and hard-to-catch fish. It is always a challenge hooking and landing one. I hope to shorten up your learning curve doing this. I also want to introduce experienced anglers to them. Let’s talk about it!

The products I’ll put on these pages are those that I have used and believe in. All of the flies; I tie myself when ordered, unless otherwise noted. I’ll add and subtract items on the website as I see fit. This is not a fancy site, but I’ll try to give you as much information as I can; such as a contact list for guides I know and have fished with and give you the best, honest service I can. My blog stories are mostly true accounts of experiences I’ve had not only of fishing, but other thoughts and adventures as well. The others are based on true experiences but not necessarily factually correct. I hope they are entertaining for you (“Don’t let the facts stand in the way of a good story”).

This site will always be a continuing work in progress.
